It has low water requirements and should only be watered deeply after the soil has completely dried, with very little water during the winter months. Its active growing season extends from spring through early fall, slowing significantly during cooler weather. Under ideal conditions, it has a moderate to fast growth rate, often adding 1–3 feet (30–90 cm) of growth per year.
