sold out

The Spineless Golden Saguaro thrives in full sun, where it develops its tall, stately columns and maintains strong, healthy growth. In extremely hot climates, young plants may benefit from light afternoon shade until established. It has low water requirements, preferring deep but infrequent watering only after the soil has completely dried during the growing season, with very little water provided throughout winter dormancy. Its primary growing season extends from spring through early fall, when warm temperatures encourage the most vigorous growth. It has a moderate to fast growth rate for a columnar cactus, commonly producing 12–24 inches (30–60 cm) of new growth per year under ideal conditions. This spineless cultivar originates from Neobuxbaumia polylopha, a species native to the arid highlands of central Mexico, particularly the states of Guanajuato, Hidalgo, and Querétaro, where it grows on rocky limestone slopes in warm, semi-desert habitats.
